Visions

Our extremely long Thanksgiving break was driving me insane.  What started out to be fun was now turning into a troublesome mess.  Alice's vision had us all on edge.  My powers were useless, but she was seeing more as time went on.  She got two more visions over the next twenty-four hours, and each vision was equally important, and built on the vision before it.

The first vision she had was very vague, simply a woman's hand knocking on the front door, with a purple cashmere sweater on her arm and twilight sky behind the hand.  Alice saw the rest of us gathered inside the house, with Rosalie and Emmett busy packing to go back home.  Not much was in that vision to tell us about our visitor, but we learned the time of the visit- tomorrow at dusk.

The second vision Alice had was a little more detailed.  Alice saw the person changing their mind to come several times, and then finally making the reservations for a hotel here in Chicago.  She couldn't see the name on the credit card, but saw the name of the hotel, and it was a very expensive downtown high rise establishment with a valet and a reputation.  It would take a good connection to get a reservation there on such short notice.  This had us a little spooked.  Who of such importance was coming to visit us without telling us ahead of time?  The vision also told us that the vampire also had money to spend, which implies that they are an older vampire, and not a newborn.  Of course, most vampires have money.  The cashmere sweater from the first vision also collaborates the money theory.  The fact that the visitor is a woman throws us off, however.  Most of our vampire friends are either paired up, or would not travel alone, and the women we know would have called ahead before visiting.

The third vision Alice had was the most vital.  It shows the visitor walking up to the door, but it doesn't show the visitor herself, only her shadow on the door.  As frustrating as this was for us at first, when Alice was able to draw the shadow of the woman, it gave us some clues as to who the vampire could be.  The shadow was tall and slender.  The head had hair that was in an updo of some sort, like a bun or a ponytail.  The woman walked with grace and poise, bouncing lightly on her feet.  Although it was just a shadow, it ruled out many of the women we knew, she was too tall, too slender.  In fact, it only left a few options.

Another important thing about this vision was that we heard the voice mumble to herself, "I hope this is the right place."  Who on earth would come visit us without knowing exactly where they were going?  For that matter, why not just call ahead and get directions or an address from us to make sure they knew it was the right address beforehand?  It didn't make much sense.

We had a few guesses as to who our surprise visitor could be.  We weren't sure why, but we figured our visitor was either a stranger, someone we didn't know at all, or someone we had barely met once or twice but didn't know very well at all.  It certainly wasn't a friend.  She didn't match up with anything we could think of. This would explain not calling, not knowing the address or the definite location of her visit, and being hesitant about coming.  It would also explain why we couldn't figure out who she was.

The only thing we could really do now was wait until tomorrow and see who the surprise visitor was.  That was the worst part.  I hate waiting.  After all these years of reading people's thoughts, not much is left to guess.  Having to wait to find out something is like pulling teeth.  Its extremely hard.  I guess we will see if it was worth the wait.
